MLB insider says Giants have ‘zero plans’ to trade Logan Webb

Could the Giants consider moving Logan Webb?

As the San Francisco Giants continue to slide further out of postseason contention, speculation has intensified regarding which veterans could be moved ahead of the August 3 MLB trade deadline.

The Giants enter the summer months of the season more than 10 games below .500 and well outside of the National League Wild Card picture–over eight games out entering play on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that San Francisco has been listening to offers on several of its expensive veterans, including Rafael Devers, Matt Chapman, Wily Adames, and left-hander Robbie Ray, should the club decide to become sellers.

However, one player the organization reportedly has no intention of dealing is ace right-hander Logan Webb.

Despite the team’s disappointing season, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported on Foul Territory TV that Logan Webb is viewed differently inside the organization.

“I spoke with someone yesterday who is familiar with the Giants’ plans,” Rosenthal said. “He said there were zero plans to trade Logan Webb, and he is kind of part of the fabric of that team in a way that is much more significant than Devers, Chapman, or Adames.”

Rosenthal pointed to Logan Webb’s roots within the organization and his commitment to the franchise as reasons the Giants are reluctant to entertain moving him.

“Logan Webb, homegrown, and he’s a guy who signed an extension. He’s someone who wants to be there,” Rosenthal said.

That doesn’t mean rival teams wouldn’t have interest. Rosenthal acknowledged that among the names connected to San Francisco, Webb would likely command the largest return.

The 29-year-old Rocklin native has established himself as one of baseball’s most durable frontline starters. Webb has led all major league pitchers in games started and innings pitched over the last two seasons while posting three consecutive campaigns of at least 200 innings.

He recorded a career-high 224 strikeouts in 2025 and finished fourth in National League Cy Young Award voting after earning his second straight top-six finish.

After battling knee bursitis earlier this season and spending time on the injured list, Logan Webb has returned to form. Since coming back on May 29, the two-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner has gone 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA and 23 strikeouts across 27.1 innings, allowing one run or fewer in each of his last four starts.

With two years and $47 million remaining on his contract through 2027, Logan Webb appears poised to remain the cornerstone of the Giants’ rotation, even if significant changes are made elsewhere on the roster.
