The Kings officially selected Duke forward Marvin Bagley III with the No. 2 pick in the draft.

Bagley gained momentum as a top-two pick throughout the pre-draft process, eventually surpassing EuroLeague star Luka Doncic as the consensus second pick. The choice confirms an earlier report from Carmichael Dave that the Kings would take the former Blue Devil.

The 19-year-old averaged 21.0 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 33 games as a freshman last season. He shot 61.4 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point range.

Bagley’s performance won him ACC Rookie of the Year and the ACC Player of the Year honors.

The Kings had the 6-11, 235-pound forward in for a pre-draft visit. He was one of three players heavily connected with the Kings and the No. 2 pick, along with Doncic and Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr.

Bagley will play in Summer League with the Kings in Sacramento.
