Despite not appearing on the practice field all week, Nick Bosa still has a chance to play in Week 14.
The San Francisco 49ers defensive end has officially been listed as questionable for Sunday’s clash with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bosa has been dealing with hamstring irritation stemming from Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins.
The injury, previously thought to be just maintenance, has been bothering him since Monday according to the team. They are still hopeful the pass rusher can suit up on Sunday.
“It was bothering him Monday, it got looked into and it’s legit,” Kyle Shanahan said after Friday’s walkthrough. “It did sting that he didn’t get to [practice] today, but hopefully he’ll be good to go Sunday.”
According to reports, Bosa was seen working out in the team’s weight room during the media portion of practice Friday. He did not appear to have any limp or wrap over his hamstring, possibly meaning that he will be good to go against Tampa Bay.
Another factor to consider is the team’s upcoming schedule, with a trip to Seattle looming Thursday. The short week may leave Bosa on a pitch count against the Bucs, looking to manage the injury the best he can.
Nick Bosa was in and around the weight room as the 49ers started practice. If there’s one player on the team who can play without officially participating in a single practice over the week, it’s Bosa. And Shanahan has said it’s simply hamstring “management”

Bosa had his best performance of the season against the Dolphins, finishing with three sacks, one forced fumble and two tackles for loss. His effort vaulted him to the top of the NFL’s sack leaderboard with 14.5 in only 12 games played this season.
The rest of the 49ers appear to be healthy going into the weekend with wide receiver Deebo Samuel (quad), running back Christian McCaffrey (knee), defensive tackle Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) all cleared to play in Week 14. Rookie guard Spencer Burford is also set to return to the field Sunday, missing last week with an ankle injury he suffered Week 12.
