Olson will face defending champion Pete Alonso, Shohei Ohtani, Trevor Story & more during Monday night’s festivities

Matt Olson’s first All-Star experience is going to be a little busy.

Olson will participate in Monday (July 12th) night’s T-Mobile Home Run Derby at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The Oakland A’s first baseman announced the news via Twitter on Tuesday in exciting fashion:

Alongside Olson in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby lineup:

Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani (31 home runs), reigning champion Pete Alonso (15 home runs) of the Mets, Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini (15 home runs), Rockies shortstop Trevor Story (11 home runs), Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo (23 home runs), Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (11 home runs) and Royals catcher Salvador Perez (20 home runs).

Olson was selected to his first All-Star appearance this week, with the 27-year-old currently enjoying a career-year thus far.

Through 81 games, Olson is batting .283 with 20 home runs, 55 RBI and and OPS of .923 over 343 plate appearances.

Monday night’s Home Run Derby is lining up to be one of the more exciting derby’s in recent memory, with Ohtani acting as the main attraction for the festivities. Coors Field is known as a hitters park, meaning that the balls could be flying out of the park even more so than other Home Run Derby’s.

You can watch the 2021 T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 12th at 5:00pm PST on ESPN.
