It took a few days, but the 49ers will be returning at least one of their rotational defensive lineman from 2023. And that man is Kevin Givens.
Reports surfaced Wednesday that the San Francisco 49ers and Givens had agreed to terms on a one-year deal to remain in The Bay. No further details regarding the salary or pay structure have been disclosed at this time.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first with the news.

Kevin Givens, 28, is a homegrown player for the Red & Gold, coming up through the ranks since 2019. Serving as a rotational member of their stout D-Line, Givens has made a name for himself when his number has been called.
Through five seasons, he has accumulated 79 combined tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits and 4.5 sacks. Now returning to the 49ers for another year, the New Jersey native will look to carve out a bigger role on defense.
San Francisco has undergone a reshuffle in the D-Line this offseason, releasing former captain Arik Armstead this week. Additionally, former 49ers DL members have departed this offseason, including Clelin Ferrell and Javon Kinlaw. Chase Young is also expected to meet with several teams this week, likely bringing his time with the 49ers to a close.
Kevin Givens played in all 17 regular-season contests inn 2023, starting one of them. That could change, potentially, in 2024.

- March 13 – The 2024 free agency signing period begins at 1 p.m. PST
- March 24-27 – Annual league meeting in Orlando
- April 25-27 – 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit
