If Woj announces a trade between two of the worst teams in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, is it still a bomb? Or is it more of a firecracker? On Sunday morning, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski announced the Pistons are sending Marvin Bagley III, the former number-two overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, to the Washington Wizards.
He goes from a 3-36 Pistons team to a 7-31 Wizards squad.
In exchange, Detroit receives forwards Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala. The Pistons are also sending the Wizards Isaiah Livers and two future second-round picks.
Detroit moves Bagley’s contract ($12.5M in 2024-2025) for two future second-round picks. Livers ($1.8M), Gallinari ($6.8M) and Muscala ($3.5M) are on expiring contracts. https://t.co/qRnVfR6JbJ

Just two years ago, the Kings sent Marvin Bagley to Detroit for Trey Lyles, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Jackson. Only Lyles remains in Sacramento from that trade, carving out a contributing role from the bench. This past offseason, the Kings re-signed Lyles to a two-year deal.
Bagley wasn’t able to turn things around in Detroit. Averaging just over 10 points this season, the 24-year-old forward saw his minutes decrease under new coach Monty Williams. The 24-year-old forward/center recently had eight consecutive games he did not play in because of the coach’s decision.
