When Rudy Gay was recently waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kings fans wondered if Sacramento should bring him back.

However, in the latest round of NBA rumors, the Kings might not be one of several franchises seeking the services of the former NBA All-Rookie.

Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype is reporting that five teams are “expected to express interest in Gay once he clears waivers.” Those teams include the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans.

In his career, he’s averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds, but those numbers have been down in recent years.

Gay, who turns 37 years old in August, spent time with the Utah Jazz last season, averaging 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds on just under 15 minutes a game. Those were all career lows.

The 17-year-veteran was selected eighth overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, where he spent his first six seasons. Gay then hopped around the league, playing for the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs.
