San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb delivered a gem on Thursday night, tossing seven shutout innings during a 5-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While Webb’s strong start was the main topic of discussion following the win, NBC Sports’ Alex Pavlovic asked the right-hander for a prediction for Friday night’s matchup between the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans.

The two NBA Playoff hopefuls will meet in New Orleans for a winner-take-all Play-In game that will send the winner to a first-round series against Oklahoma City, and the loser home for the offseason.

Webb, a noted Kings fan who has been seen at several home games and even some road contests when Sacramento plays in Phoenix, is optimistic that his team’s season will continue after Friday’s must-win action.

“Well, my prediction obviously is going to be the Kings winning,” Webb responded when asked for a prediction.

This won’t be Sacramento’s first win-or-go-home game, as they already advanced past the first round of the Play-In on Tuesday thanks to a blowout win over the Golden State Warriors.

Webb, who added that he would be unable to watch the entirety of Friday’s game due to San Francisco’s 7:15 PM PST first pitch (Kings vs. Pelicans tips off at 6:30 PM PST), also shared some sympathy for Warriors fans.

“It’s going to be fun to watch. To be honest, I’m not even going to be able to watch it because it’s the same time as our game, but I’ll be checking a little bit hopefully. I’m excited for them… [Kings vs. Warriors] was fun to watch [on Tuesday]. Obviously not fun for Warriors fans, sorry about that, but as a Kings fan, it was fun to watch. I’m excited about the game.”

If Sacramento can get past a Pelicans team they have lost to five-straight times this season, Webb will have more opportunities to watch his hometown team in a potential first-round series against the top-seed Thunder.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento will need one more win on Friday night to keep their season alive and clinch a first-round playoff berth, but the New Orleans Pelicans will stand in their way as the two teams will meet for the sixth time this season.

The Pelicans have won all five head-to-head meetings against the Kings this season, including a 135-123 triumph on April 11th at Golden 1 Center.
