The San Francisco 49ers got an injury break over the last two days, with Deebo Samuel cleared of a major ailment to his surgically-repaired shoulder.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Monday that Samuel has no fractures in his shoulder from last Saturday’s win over the Green Bay Packers. Tests done Sunday confirmed that, giving the 49ers some optimism he could suit up a week later. However, Shanahan Alsop shared that the wide receiver is still hurting too much to determine if he can practice this week, wanting to wait until Wednesday for a better idea on his availability.
“It’s still hurting too much for us to know how it will heal up this week,” Shanahan shard Monday about Deebo Samuel.

Samuel first got banged up on the opening series for SF, being evaluated for a concussion after a gang tackle by Green Bay. He was able to return for a couple of series before he went off the field again with shoulder discomfort. Unable to play through the pain, Samuel went into the locker from before halftime of the NFC Divisional Round.
Reports surfaced Monday morning that the tests did confirm no fracture, but that he was seen as “50-50” to play in the NFL Championship game.
Samuel, 28, suffered a similar injury to the same shoulder in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. That time it was a hairline fracture in need of surgery, knocking him out of action for two games. The 49ers went 0-3 during that stretch, missing both Samuel and left tackle Trent Williams for most of it.
Besides Samuel, there are no other 49ers injuries to report.
Instead, Shanahan reflected on his team’s performance, pleased with a few members. That included defensive tackle Arik Armstead.
“In terms of how he played and the old injury he had, I think it was a huge success,” Shanahan shared about the Sacramento native.
Arik Armstead, 30, missed the last five games of the regular season with foot and knee injuries. He recorded three combined tackles in his return Saturday.
