The Drive: NBA One and Done Tournament

So today on the show we talked about different ways to re-launch the NBA when they get back up and running.  For the record, my preferred plan is to restart the NBA exactly where they left off.  For example, let’s just say the season returns on July 1st.  The NBA would pick up exactly where they left off.  There was about a month to go.  You finish the rest of this NBA season by the end of July.  The playoffs would then begin in August and the champion would be crowned at the end of September.  NBA free agency, the draft and the new league year would start in October.  There would be no summer league and then next season would begin on Christmas Day.  I would also make this the new normal.  The NBA could open on Christmas and continue through June.  Playoffs in 2021 would begin in July and end at the end of August.  Free agency and the draft would be in September and then start it all over again on Christmas and rinse and repeat.

The other idea that was floated out there by Carmichael Dave was to have a NCAA March Madness style type tournament.  I took that concept and put it into bracket form.  In this scenario, the #1 seed Milwaukee Bucks and the 2nd seeded Lakers would host the top 2 teams of the G-leauge.  This would promote that league and give the top seeds a heavy advantage to advance to the sweet 16.  The rest of the seeding was based on the teams current winning percentage.  Everyone would have a chance to win the title but you have to win 5 games to be called champ.  Take a look and see what fun could be had in a one and done NBA scenario.
