Sacramento State football’s Andy Thompson on his new role

Sacramento State football head coach Andy Thompson joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Friday morning to preview this upcoming college football season, discuss how he is approaching his first year as head coach, and much more.
Plus: Coach Thompson brings a special surprise for Hornets radio voice Jason Ross.
According to Sacramento State, Thompson is a collegiate coaching veteran with nearly 20 years of experience and has served as the Hornets’ defensive coordinator and linebackers coach since 2019.
While at Sacramento State, Thompson has been part of a staff that went 30-8, won the first three Big Sky Conference championships in school history, and earned three NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances.
The Hornets will open up its 2023 season on Thursday, August 31st when they face the Nicholls Colonels on the road. Sacramento State’s home opener will be against the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Saturday, September 9th.
