Anthony Slater, Warriors and NBA reporter for The Athletic, joined “Stiles & Watkins” to talk about his recent interview with Sixth Man of the Year frontrunner Malik Monk.
In the piece, the 26-year-old impending free agent told Slater he would love to stay in Sacramento, but there are factors involved.
“Depends on what we do in the postseason, as well. But I’d love to be here, man. Got comfortable here. Made a lot of new friends, met a lot of great people. The city loves me. I love the city. So, yeah, I’d love to come back.”
Slater said he was a little surprised by Monk’s openness in the interview, but noted the Kings’ guard in an open book.
Monk joined Sacramento in the summer of 2022, signing a two-year $19 million deal. In his second season with the Kings, he’s averaging career highs in points (15.9) and assists (5.3).
Additional topics discussed include:
- Monk expresses a desire to be a starter
- What is a good playoff run for Malik Monk and the Sacramento Kings?
- His thoughts on Sacramento’s chances of retaining Monk this offseason?
- Monk showed the Kings and NBA world what he could do in last year’s playoff series against the Warriors
