This is a question that is asked and in my opinion has to be answered and clearly defined this upcoming season.

Is Marvin Bagley good?

I think so, but I don’t know so. Should he be a key piece to this team’s future? I think so, but I don’t know for certain. That is really the puzzle going on right now with Marvin.

When he plays his gifts are always on display.

Marvin can do just about anything when he is on the court. He has shown a very easy ability to produce numbers when he is on the floor, but now he needs to turn those numbers into making an impact in the win column for the Kings. For example in the 13 games he was available to the Kings last season the team went just (2-11). Not all of that is his fault by any means but you would expect a better winning percentage if one of your better players is on the floor.

So for this year to be a success with Marvin, the Kings need that clarity on his future.

The first part of gaining that clarity is for him to stay healthy. That has been the most obvious thing that has held him back. Most of them have been freak injuries.

I am still not in the camp that he is injury prone, but more games missed this year because of injury won’t help that case. It also won’t help answer that very important question about his future here. His time for a contract extension will be coming up and this team will need to know what they want to do.

I am leaning towards him being a good player, a positive part of the future, and a core piece. He has to stay healthy, he has to produce, and if he does all that, the next question will be how much better will the Sacramento Kings be?
