CBS Sports fantasy football expert, Dave Richard, joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, on Friday morning to give his fantasy takeaways from Week 1 around the NFL. He shared everything from his biggest surprises to avoiding overreactions and plenty more.
Richard started the show by explaining why his biggest fantasy surprise up to this point happened to center around the San Francisco 49ers matchup with the Pittsburg Steelers.
Aside from thoughts on the Steelers’ offensive shortcomings, Richard mentioned the underwhelming quarterback play from typically reliable fantasy football contributors. Look at the numbers Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes put up. Hurts has already managed to bounce back with a solid Thursday night showing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but is there any cause for concern with the others?
Other topics discussed included:
- Avoiding fantasy football overreactions — when is it an appropriate time to make some cuts?
- Start vs. Sit: Jamaal Williams vs. Najee Harris
- Keep two and cut one: Jahmyr Gibbs, Rachaad White and Breece Hall
- After 129 points and two touchdowns in Pittsburg, is Brandon Aiyuk now a must-start fantasy football receiver?
- The Ravens’ offensive playstyle and what it means for their running backs
- Players to monitor for injury-reserve openings
