As the Sacramento Kings season comes to another disappointing conclusion, all eyes will shift towards another summer of changes.
Those changes will begin in the coming days as it is increasingly likely that interim head coach Alvin Gentry will not return in 2022-23.
According to our very own Carmichael Dave, Kings general manager Monte McNair and the front office already have their eyes set on a trio of candidates that have plenty of NBA experience:
- Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson
- Golden State Warriors associate head coach Mike Brown
- Longtime NBA head coach Steve Clifford (last coached the Orlando Magic in 2021)
Atkinson’s name has been heavily mentioned in coaching searches since the 54-year-old last acted as a head coach during the 2019-20 season when he was with the Brooklyn Nets.
Mike Brown, a coach with over 563 games of experience with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, has been on Steve Kerr’s staff since 2016.
Clifford has logged 637 games as an NBA head coach with the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets and Orlando Magic.
Who would you like to see the Sacramento Kings hire as their next head coach?
