Donte DiVincenzo’s time in Sacramento might have been short-lived, but he left believing things are moving in the right direction for the Kings.

DiVincenzo joined the Bay Area’s 95.7 The Game with Damon Bruce and Ray Ratto Wednesday afternoon to talk about signing with the Golden State Warriors, his time with the Milwaukee Bucks, and what he’s looking forward to the most with his new team.

When Bruce and Ratto asked about his time in Sacramento, DiVencenzo had nothing but positive things to say about his experience in the capital city. The guard joined the Kings in the middle of the 2021-22 season after a four-team trade also saw the team move Marvin Bagley III to Detroit. This was the second attempt by the Sacramento Kings to acquire DiVincenzo.

When asked about his arrival and time in Sacramento, he told the hosts the team was trying to finish the season strong.

“What made it the best for me, is I really invested myself in the locker room, just trying to create relationships and trying to help not only myself but Davion Mitchell,” DiVincenzo said.

Another teammate who stood out and bonded with DiVencenzo was former Golden State Warrior Harrison Barnes.

“He’s awesome. He was one of the most welcoming people there. We got a lot of dinners on the road. We still talk now and he’s great,” DiVincenzo said.

And he’s heard the jokes about Sacramento. The team is currently in the midst of its longest playoff drought, sitting at 16 seasons.

“When I got there, I was excited to be at a fresh start. And when I was there, it wasn’t as bad as everyone says it is. They were really trying to figure things out this past season. They made a really good decision with Coach [Mike] Brown… and it’s only going to get better in the years to come.”

DiVencenzo went on to praise the hiring of former assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors Mike Brown.

“Right before free agency, I was in Sacramento as Coach Brown had his introductory press conference and I got the vibe that he’s going to be an amazing fit there. He just, even in the short time I was there for a few days with him around, he just commands so much attention and respect from everybody he was talking to. And I think he’s going to do nothing but great things over there [in Sacramento].”

DiVencenzo averaged 9 points, 4 rebounds, and nearly 3 assists last season between his time in Milwaukee and Sacramento.
