Sacramento Kings assistant coach Doug Christie joins the Cattles and Ramie show Thursday to discuss the team’s first playoff berth since 2006, the style of play in the postseason, having role players be ready to step up and more.

“We lost to Boston twice, we lost to Milwaukee, but in my opinion, we haven’t faced a team we can’t beat. Now we’re going to have to prove that,” Christie said when asked about if the team is ready for the big moments.

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Feeling excited when the team officially clinched a playoff berth.
  • How appreciative the fans have been of the team’s turnaround
  • Celebrating with the coaching staff for reaching this goal, but not settling
  • Keegan Murray setting the rookie record for three-point field goals
  • “You go to a team when you’re picked that high, and that team usually doesn’t do too well. And he’s come in and contributed from day one.”
  • If the Kings are aware of reports that other teams want to face them in round one of the playoffs
  • Being able to hold the players accountable and the players accepting the roles
  • How the team’s leadership council has helped shape their culture
  • Can Alex Len be a part of the playoff rotation?
  • General manager Monte McNair, assistant general manager Wes Wilcox and the front office putting together a team that gels together so well
  • If they’re leaning toward resting any players ahead of the playoffs.
  • How he is preparing players for the physicality of the playoffs
