ESPN’s NBA Insider Amin Elhassan joined “The Drive Guys” Monday to talk about the Sacramento Kings and his now-viral basketball shot.

First, let’s address the shot since it just happened. At the AU Celebrity Hoops Classic, hosted by Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball, this previous weekend, Amin was captured shooting a three-point shot that not only missed the rim but resulted in his hands making a weird gesture.

“As far as why my hand did that, I don’t shoot like that,” Amin joked, adding that he’s embraced the social media jokes. “When something like this happens, and I’m looking at my timeline and I’m legitimately laughing ’cause these are so funny… Like I’m going to sit here and be in my feelings over something that’s legitimately funny? No.”

Kyle, Kevin and Amin also discussed his infamous take on Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox. In 2020 on an episode of The Jump, Amin claimed Ja Morant “is who De’Aaron Fox thinks he is.”

Since then, his opinion on Fox has changed because “he’s changed, he’s gotten better. That’s undeniable.”

Amin went on to explain how the clip went viral, his point of view, and if there have been any conversations between him and Dox since then.

“My general philosophy is when I say things that make people upset… if a guy feels like coming up to me [at a game] and talking, I’ll talk,” Amin said, adding he has a lot of people in Sacramento who he knows and respects. “If he wants to talk to me, I will be happy to talk to him.”

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Why Fox and Domantas Sabonis don’t get the recognition they deserve
  • The Kings following the Denver Nuggets personnel plan is the right move
  • How wide open is the NBA’s Western Conference
  • Wanting to see a Kings game live at the Golden 1 Center
