The Kings rookie will join 16 other young talents to help the U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team prepare for this summer’s Olympic games

Sacramento Kings rookie guard Tyrese Haliburton has been named to the United States Select Team, per a release issued by the team on Thursday morning.

Haliburton was a member of the 2019 USA U19 World Cup team that captured the gold medal in Thailand. Haliburton is the first member of the Kings to be named to the Select Team since De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III were named to the team in 2019.

The honor of being named to the select team is the cherry on top to a very successful eight months for Haliburton, who finished third in the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award voting and was a member of the All-Rookie First Team.

Over 58 games, the 12th pick in the 2020 Draft averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game on 47-percent shooting from the field and 40-percent shooting from three-point range.

Joining Haliburton in Las Vegas from July 6-9th: Saddiq Bey (Detroit Pistons); Miles Bridges (Charlotte Hornets); Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves); Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers); Tyler Herro (Miami Heat); John Jenkins (Bilbao Basket, Italy/Vanderbilt); Keldon Johnson (San Antonio Spurs); Josh Magette (Darüşşafaka Tekfen, Turkey/Alabama-Huntsville); Dakota Mathias (Philadelphia 76ers); Immanuel Quickly (New York Knicks); Naz Reid (Minnesota Timberwolves); Cam Reynolds (Houston Rockets); Isaiah Stewart (Detroit Pistons); Obi Toppin (New York Knicks); P.J. Washington (Charlotte Hornets); and Patrick Williams (Chicago Bulls).

The United States Select Team will be coached by Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra.
