While the 49ers have good news regarding Brock Purdy, the news on Nick Bosa and his contract situation is not as sunny.
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch told the media Tuesday that he does not expect Bosa to report to training camp until a long-term contract extension is reached. Bosa was present at the team’s OTAs in May but did not participate.
While both sides continue to work towards a new deal, the organization is not surprised by his absence at the moment.

“I would expect he’s not here to start [training camp],” John Lynch said.
“I wouldn’t [show up],” coach Kyle Shanahan said regarding Bosa’s perspective.
Nick Bosa, 25, is in line to get a massive contract extension, taking effect after the 2023 season. The deal is expected to make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
The Ohio State alum is coming off the best season of his career, winning Defensive Player of the Year for his 18.5 sack effort. While the team prefers to have him in the building, both sides remain confident a deal will come to fruition in short order.
