Malik Monk #0 of the Sacramento Kings reacts after scoring during the third quarter in game seven of the Western Conference First Round Playoffs against the Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center on April 30, 2023 in Sacramento, California.

NBC Sports California analyst and former Sacramento Kings forward Kenny Thomas joined the Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross Wednesday to talk about Monte McNair winning NBA’s Executive of the Year, moves that should be made this summer, and next year’s expectations, and more.

“I can’t wait to see the pieces that are going to be added, especially like HB [Harrison Barnes], what’s going to happen there. And then you got Trey Lyles, I really hope they sign Trey Lyles back because I feel like he’s a big cornerstone to their future,” Thomas said about the Kings’ decisions this summer.

Topics discussed include:

  • McNair’s humbleness, telling Kenny during the playoffs that everything they accomplished was a team effort
  • How this season “came out of nowhere”
  • The moves McNair made to get to this point
  • If Barnes would take a pay cut to stay with the Sacramento Kings
  • Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka making moves to improve the team’s chances during the playoffs
  • What’s the next jump for the Sacramento Kings?
  • “It can’t come off like it’s a fluke next year. They were a three-seed, like they can’t be a play-in team. They have to be a playoff team.”
