Business never stops in the sports world, even here in Sacramento.
Sacramento Republic FC owner Kevin Nagle has finalized the takeover of English Championship club Huddersfield Town A.F.C. Thursday. Nagle has been working to purchase the club from former owner Dean Hoyle for a few months now, with reports stating the deal would take place. Now that the move is complete, the Sacramento businessman is in charge of the former Premier League side.
“I am extremely humbled and excited to be the new steward of Huddersfield Town,” Nagle said in a club statement. “I would like to thank Dean Hoyle, Dave Baldwin, the EFL, and FCA for all their help and attention to detail over the past few months. A special thanks to the wonderful Town supporters who have also been so supportive and patient. I know how deeply they care for this club, and I do not intend to let them down. Now let’s get to work.”

“As I pursue this new endeavor and build new connections to elite levels of football, I remain committed to Sacramento Republic FC’s continued success and growth, our plan to build a stadium and community asset in downtown Sacramento, and bright future as a topflight club,” he previously stated.
Huddersfield Town have had a rough go of things last season, finishing in 18th place in the second tier of English football. The Terriers returned to the Championship after being relegated from the Premier League following the 2018-19 season.
