The Las Vegas Raiders have officially cut ties with wide receiver Hunter Renfrow and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

According to Pro Football Talk, the team saves roughly $19 million by cutting the two players.

In 2021, Renfrow set multiple career highs, including receiving yards (1,038), touchdowns (9) and receptions (103) on his way to his first and only Pro Bowl appearance. Then, an injury-plagued 2022 limited the 28-year-old receiver to only 10 games, a career low. And while he played all 17 games in 2023, he recorded career lows for receptions (25), touchdowns (zero), and receiving yards (255).

Hunter Renfrow took to social media to thank Raider Nation for their support over the past five years.

“Raider Nation, thank you for welcoming me and my family in the last 5 years. From Oakland to Vegas it felt like home. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my teammates and coaches inspiring me every single day.”

Jimmy Garoppolo signed a three-year, $72.75 million contract that included $33.75 million guaranteed with Las Vegas in March 2023. He started six games for the Raiders last season before being replaced by rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell in Week 9.

Over seven appearances (six starts) with Las Vegas, Garoppolo threw for 1,205 yards and seven touchdowns, but also racked up nine interceptions. The 32-year-old’s 172.1 yards per game average was the lowest of his NFL career (minimum seven games played).

Wherever he plays next, Garoppolo will miss the first two games of the 2024 season after the NFL suspended him due to violating the league’s Performance Enhancing Drug Policy.

The team added they’ve also cut quarterback Brian Hoyer and defensive tackle Jerry Tillery.

Key offseason dates for the Las Vegas Raiders

  • March 13 – The 2024 free agency signing period begins at 1 p.m. PST
  • March 24-27 – Annual league meeting in Orlando
  • April 25-27 – NFL Draft in Detroit
