Jared Greenberg, of TNT and NBA TV, joined “The Drive Guys” to talk about the Sacramento Kings, the job Mike Brown has done in his second year, how much national attention the team should get and more.

Sacramento has had a rollercoaster season, with losses to Detroit and Washington, but then big wins recently against Milwaukee and the Lakers. But through it all, Brown has secured a second-straight winning season with the Kings, something that hasn’t been done since Rick Adelman coached the team.

Greenberg reminds everyone though, that Coach Mike Brown predicted this would happen.

“Go back to training camp… he recognized that the hardest leap in the NBA is not going from mediocre to good, but going from good to great and sustaining that level of greatness and playing consistently well with a target on your back,” Greenberg said. “What the Kings did last year, ending the playoff drought, people thought that was the hard part. No, the hard part is now and the Kings are going through it.”

Last year, Sacramento was healthy and “playing out of their minds,” Greenberg added. This year, the Western Conference is playing better and the Kings have been banged up this year.

Additional topics discussed include:

  • How different the Dallas Mavericks have looked since the trade deadline
  • Kyrie and Luka could be the “most difficult backcourt in the NBA to gameplan for.”
  • Best matchups for the Kings in the postseason
  • How a trip to the play-in would be the “wake-up call” the Sacramento Kings need
  • Where does Malik Monk rank among potential 6th Man of the Year Award nominees
  • Draymond Green can’t put his team in a position to lose when they’re in a tight playoff push
  • The growth of NBA Crunchtime
