The World Baseball Classic schedule begins this week, with first-round games running from March 4 to March 11 at four host sites around the globe.

The 20-team international tournament is structured with four pools of five teams each, playing a round-robin format. The top two teams from each pool advance to the single-elimination quarterfinal round.

Pool play will take place in Tokyo, San Juan, Houston, and Miami. Pool A competes in Puerto Rico, Pool B in Houston, Pool C in Tokyo, and Pool D in Miami. Each team plays four games within its pool, facing every other team once.

2026 World Baseball Classic Schedule & Rules

Tiebreaker rules, including head-to-head results and run differential, determine advancement if teams finish with identical records.

Team USA opens pool play in Houston on March 6 and will face Brazil, Great Britain, Mexico, and Italy over a five-day stretch. Quarterfinal games are scheduled for March 13 and 14, split between Houston and Miami.

The semifinals are on March 15 and 16, with the championship game on March 17 at loanDepot Park in Miami.

Among the notable names on Team USA’s roster is Rocklin native Logan Webb, the ace of the San Francisco Giants. Webb is expected to play a key role in the starting rotation as the United States looks to advance from pool play into the knockout rounds.

The tournament format ensures that every game in the opening round carries significance, as teams compete for limited spots in the quarterfinals.

With pool play beginning this week and elimination rounds shortly after, the World Baseball Classic schedule sets the stage for two weeks of international competition culminating in a champion on March 17.
