The Pascal Siakam sweepstakes are officially over. Despite plenty of ties to the Sacramento Kings throughout the last few weeks, the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors have agreed to a deal that allows the two-time All-Star to join Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal agreed upon includes Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, and three first-round picks to the Raptors. The New Orleans Pelicans have joined the deal, sending a second-round pick to Indiana and Kira Lewis to Toronto.

From Toronto’s perspective, they’ve entirely reworked their roster. Earlier in the season, they sent OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks for Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barret, and a second-round pick.

Since that point, their pace, energy, and perimeter playmaking have been night and day. Now, they must adjust to losing their leading scorer, Pascal Siakam.

In his seven and a half seasons with the Raptors, Siakam won an NBA Championship alongside Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard, and Marc Gasol. Additionally, he won the 2018-19 Most Improved Player award.

Bruce Brown, who was sent out to bring Pascal Siakam to Indiana, was in his first season with the Pacers after signing a two-year, $45-million deal with them this offseason.

With Siakam set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, plenty of risk is involved by including three first-round picks in the deal. The Pacers hope to convince the former NBA Champion to stay and build around their core of Haliburton, Turner, and second-year player Bennedict Mathurin.

That may have been enough for the Kings not to pull the trigger. Given the reporting that they were unwilling to include Keegan Murray in any Pascal Siakam conversations (likely for that exact reason), it may have involved complications with how many picks they would put on the table.
