Currently the sixth seed in the crowded Western Conference, the Sacramento Kings own a 34-25 record. Their season has featured various ups and downs, losses to the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets at home or a double-digit defeat by the Portland Trail Blazers are mixed in with big wins over the top of the West.

Most recently, the Kings beat the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center, where the Wolves are 22-8 — two of those eight losses coming against Sacramento. The Kings are 3-1 against the Denver Nuggets, 2-1 versus Minnesota, 2-1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but 1-2 against the Los Angeles Clippers.

That leaves the Kings with a 7-3 record against the top three seeds in the West, an encouraging sign considering the potential of them meeting one of those squads in the opening round of the postseason.

Finding consistency will be key for the Kings in their final 23 games of the season, which feature just one remaining matchup against those mentioned above top-four teams in the West: the Clippers.

Sacramento’s current record against each team in the Western Conference, in order of current seeding:

  • Oklahoma City Thunder: 2-1
  • Minnesota Timberwolves: 2-1
  • Denver Nuggets: 3-1
  • LA Clippers: 1-2
  • New Orleans Pelicans: 0-4
  • Phoenix Suns: 2-2
  • Dallas Mavericks: 2-0
  • Golden State Warriors: 2-2
  • Los Angeles Lakers: 2-0
  • Utah Jazz: 2-0
  • Houston Rockets: 0-2
  • Memphis Grizzlies: 2-0
  • Portland Trail Blazers: 1-1

The Pelicans and Rockets are the only two Western teams Sacramento has yet to beat, while the Lakers, Mavericks, Jazz, and Grizzlies have not managed to defeat the team in Califonia’s capital in 2023-24.

As the regular season continues to wind down, tiebreakers with those near Sacramento in the standings could play a crucial role in eventual seeding. But, their impressive record against the top records in the conference should provide a sense of optimism surrounding potential postseason matchups.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento will return to Northern California as they begin a home-heavy stretch of their schedule on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls.

The Kings will play 15 of their final 23 games at Golden 1 Center, including seven of their next eight on their home floor.
