Why Tuesday’s game between the Kings & Warriors won’t be like last year

John Dickinson, of KNBR radio in the Bay Area, joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Monday to preview the highly-anticipated rematch between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors in the NBA play-in tournament.

The Kings broke their playoff drought last season but faced the then-defending champions in the first round. In the seven-game series, the Warriors came out on top.

For the 2023-24 season, the two teams split the series. So who wins the rubber match?

“For the Warriors, every time it’s looked like they were really going to turn their season around, and they did to a certain extent to get to 46 wins, they’d just have an awful loss, they’d blow a lead or they would just have a no-show kind of game,” Dickinson said, adding for the Kings to win, De’Aaron Fox needs to be aggressive early.

“There’s a lot of games where Fox lets the Kings get into their offense and get everybody involved, [Domantas] Sabonis does his thing, they’re getting Keegan Murray going, they’re taking open threes. I think Fox has to look to be the guy that at times has dominated the Warriors by trying to get into the paint early and just look to score a lot early,” Dickinson told Jason Ross.

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Golden State has rallied the past month or so to get back in rhythm
  • How can the Kings cool down the rookie combo of Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis?
  • Why Kevon Looney will be a wildcard on Tuesday
  • How the Sacramento Kings outplay the Warriors Tuesday night.
