The Sacramento Kings got a little help on Sunday to end the weekend with an improved position in the standings.
First, De’Aaron Fox and Company breezed past the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday en route to a 107-77 win. That helped push Sacramento’s record to 45-33. The win brought the Kings within one game of the sixth-seed Phoenix Suns (46-32), who lost to the New Orleans Pelicans (46-32) 113-105. Phoenix and New Orleans did not swap standing positions though because the Suns hold the tiebreaker over the Pelicans.
Sacramento is also half a game ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers (45-34), who lost Sunday night to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Golden State Warriors (43-35) clinched a top-10 seed with their win over the Utah Jazz.
The Dallas Mavericks (48-30) eliminated the Houston Rockets from post-season contention. Sacramento is now three games behind the Mavs for the fifth seed.
Both Phoenix and New Orleans will face the Beam Team at the Golden 1 Center later this week as the race to the postseason continues to heat up.
When is the next Sacramento Kings game?
Sacramento will play its final road game of the regular season on Tuesday night when they face the third-seed Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Kings have secured two wins out of three matchups against OKC this season, although they dropped the most recent head-to-head meeting on February 11th as the Thunder coasted to a 127-111 win at the Paycom Center.
During three games against Oklahoma City this season, Domantas Sabonis holds averages of 18.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 11.3 assists on 55 percent shooting from the field.
