Sean Cunningham, sports reporter and producer for FOX40, joined “The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross” Thursday morning ahead of the Sacramento Kings push for the playoffs, which starts at home against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Kings sit in the eighth seed of the Western Conference going into Thursday night’s matchup. This year’s standing is a stark contrast to where the team was last year. But, there’s still a path forward for the Sacramento Kings to get into the playoffs.

“For the most part, they’ve kept their heads above water, they’ve stayed in five, six range to avoid the Play-In Tournament…and I think they’re more than capable of doing that,” Cunningham said, adding the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are playing some of their best basketball right now. “I still think they stay out of the Play-In picture. I think they wind up around fifth or sixth and there’s probably about four teams in my estimation that might finish in the playoffs that they’d have a good chance of beating.”

Additional topics discussed include:

  • How he would fix the NBA All-Star game
  • If five days is enough of a break for basketball players during All-Star weekend
  • The ailments De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are dealing with
  • With a lot of home games in March, how will the team perform when they’ve played better on the road?
  • Which teams the Kings would have the most success against in the playoffs
  • Victor Wembanyama may actually be a one-of-a-kind player
