The three-time NBA Sixth Man of The Year award recipient joined the show to talk hoops with Grant and Doug

Tuesday afternoon on the Grant Napear Show with Doug Christie, NBA free-agent guard Jamal Crawford joined the show to discuss basketball, the COVID-19 outbreak and much more.

Crawford, 40, has played nearly 20 seasons in the NBA, winning three Sixth Man of The Year awards in the process.

Over his 19 seasons of NBA action, Crawford holds career averages of 14.6 points, 2.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. Primarily doing his work off of the bench, Crawford was apart of several playoff teams, averaging 14.3 points per game in the postseason over 74 appearances.

On if he wants to continue to play professional basketball, Crawford has no doubt that he can still play at the highest level.

“Absolutely, I’m still working out and still playing,” Crawford said of if he would be ready to go if the league came calling. “I feel even better than I did last year, to be honest. Taking some time off has began to let by body heal, get my body stronger; I definitely feel good.”

On the current COVID-19 outbreak that is currently affecting countless people across the globe, Crawford shared his thoughts on the way the virus has affected day-to-day life.

“It’s different, that’s for sure,” Crawford said. “I see why the teachers should be getting the big bucks,” he said of how homeschooling his children has gone so far.

Doug Christie, a fellow native of Seattle, Washington and—like Crawford—an alumni of Rainer Beach High School in Seattle, had a big impact on Crawford in his early years playing basketball.

“To be honest with you Doug, you were the one who cemented that I could even make it. I knew I had talent, but I hadn’t really proved it. Playing with you and playing against the pro’s that summer, and having some success after awhile awhile, you gave me that confidence.”

Jamal goes on to tell stories of his path to the NBA, when he knew that he was going to make it to the next level, how important it is to have a healthy locker room and much more.
