According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, former Sacramento Kings forward-center Chimezie Metu has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Following three seasons in Sacramento, Metu will depart for Phoenix and join a Suns team that lacks depth at the power forward and center positions.

After signing a deal with Sacramento before the 2020-21 season, Metu played in 162 games for the Kings while logging minutes at power forward and center positions.

During his three seasons in the purple and black, Metu averaged 6.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 30 percent from deep.

Metu used his impressive athleticism to become Sacramento’s best lob threat during the past two seasons, shooting 80 percent at the rim during the 2022-23 season on 106 attempts.

The 26-year-old becomes the second member of the ‘Beam Team’ Kings to depart this offseason, with the other being center Richaun Holmes, who was traded to Dallas during last week’s NBA Draft.

After retaining Harrison Barnes and Trey Lyles during the first day of free agency, Sacramento will now search for replacements that can slide into the roster spots that Metu and Holmes occupied.
