No, it isn’t deja vu. Domantas Sabonis has been named Western Conference Player of the Week again.

The All-Star center has been named Player of the Week for the second-straight week due to his stellar play during the 22nd week of the regular season.

Sabonis posted averages of 22.8 points, 16.0 rebounds, and 10.0 assists per game while shooting 59 percent from the field and racked up two triple-doubles during an impressive 3-1 week for the second-seed Sacramento Kings as the franchise inches closer to ending its 16-year playoff drought.

After starting off the post-All-Star-break with an 11-2 record, the Kings are firmly in the mix for a top-four spot in the West, which would lock in home-court advantage during the first round of the playoffs.

Sabonis is one of four players to be named Player of the Week three or more times this season:

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo – 4 times
  • Joel Embiid – 4 times
  • Damian Lillard – 3 times
  • Domantas Sabonis – 3 times

In his first full season with the Kings, the three-time All-Star is currently averaging 19.2 points, 12.5 rebounds, 7.2 assists (career-high), and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 61 percent from the field (career-high) and 35 percent from three-point range.

As of March 20th, Sabonis leads the NBA in double-doubles (57), rebounds (850), and rebounds per game (12.5) while holding top-10 spots in assists (5th, 487), true shooting percentage (9th, .671), effective field goal percentage (9th, .629), Offensive Rating (7th), and Win Shares (2nd, 11.0).

Sabonis’ 57 double-doubles this season have established Sacramento era record for most by a King in a single season.

Per the Kings, Sabonis is the first player in franchise history to receive three Player of the Week accolades in a single season.
