Kevin Pelton, NBA and WNBA writer for ESPN, joined Sactown Sports Thursday to talk about the upcoming 2023 NBA Summer League, and recap NBA free agency the past week. Plus, how big is the Sasha Vezenkov acquisition for the Sacramento Kings?

All that & more on Sactown Sports.

“His European numbers, just jump off the page at you, in terms of his efficiency last [season] as the EuroLeague MVP,” Pelton said on the show.  “You know, I think [his play] reduces the fear that it was fluky shooting for him in the EuroLeague, but he did the same thing in the Greek League last season. So offensively I don’t think there’s any question that he’s going to be an effective player at the NBA level. It’s really just a matter of whether he can guard well enough at that power forward spot to stay on the court for major minutes, and take advantage of that talent.”

Topics discussed include:

  • What should we expect from Victor Wembanyama in NBA Summer League?
  • Was Keegan Murray’s big Summer League game a big deal?
  • Kevin’s thoughts on the Kings 2023 free-agency moves
  • Who were the winners of 2023 NBA free agency
  • Is Phoenix the favorite in the western conference?
  • Is Domantas Sabonis’ renegotiation a good deal for the Kings?
