Sacramento breaks franchise record in made three-pointers; snap 10-game losing streak against Clippers

It’s been a long 24 hours for the Sacramento Kings.

Right on the heels of arguably their worst showing of the season, Sacramento shocked the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, winning by a final of 124-103 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

On Wednesday night, the Kings were blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden 1 Center in a game that never felt close. Tonight in Los Angeles, they flipped the script.

Sacramento started things off with a bang and never looked back, draining a franchise record 15 three-pointer’s in the first half to take a 64-47 lead into the break.

Sacramento was paced by a career-high 34 points from De’Aaron Fox in their first win against the Los Angeles Clippers since March of 2017. Fox, who went 14-of-24 from the field, finished with eight assists and four steals in the win to cap off his biggest scoring performance of the season.

Cory Joseph had a season-high 16 points on four-of-nine from beyond the three-point stripe to go along with seven assists. Buddy Hield pitched in with 19 points and seven rebounds, continuing to have a huge impact from the bench for the Kings.

The Kings drained 21 three-pointer’s on Thursday night, breaking a record of 20 that was set last season against the Golden State Warriors.

Sacramento (18-30) has won three of their last four contests, and now sit six games back of the eighth seed in the Western Conference Standings with 34 games left in the season.

Coming Up

The Kings will return home this Saturday to face the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden 1 Center.

It is expected to be a heartfelt match-up between these two division rivals, as the Lakers will come into town for the first time since former NBA legend Kobe Bryant lost his life in a tragic helicopter accident last weekend in Southern California.
