The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined The Carmichael Dave Show this week to discuss the Sacramento Kings’ general manager search

This week on The Carmichael Dave Show with JayMarzz, NBA insider and writer for The Athletic Sam Amick joined the show to discuss the Sacramento Kings’ ongoing search for a new general manager.

Since Vlade Divac departed the organization in August, interim Vice President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars has been in charge of the search for a permanent solution.

One of the names that has recently been floating around the NBA “twitter-sphere” has been that of Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey.

Morey, who has constructed a perennial playoff contender in Houston, could move on from the organization after the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.

When asked by Dave if Morey would consider taking the challenge of becoming Kings general manager, Amick quickly shot down any possibility of the 47 year-old executive coming to Sacramento.

“I definitely do not think that he would want the job,” Amick said. “Guys like that–it’s a little bit like (Sam) Hinke, where you had a run, you made a bunch of money, they work in different spaces, tied to the tech world and all of those things. Sam Hinke is living his best life right now. So, no I don’t think that after this Rockets run that Daryl would pivot if they let him go and go to Sacramento.”

The Rockets have made the playoffs in eight-straight seasons dating back to 2012-13.

Sacramento just finished its 14th-straight season without a playoff berth, just one season shy of the league record 15-straight seasons set by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Listen to the entire interview between Dave, Jay and Sam as they dive into the ongoing general manager search.
