The Sacramento Republic FC has been hot as the 2023 USL Championship season rolls along, introducing another new kit that pays homage to their past.
Republic FC unveiled the Old Glory Kit Tuesday, redesigning the original kit from the club’s first season in 2014. The new kit is a limited edition 10th season celebration jersey, celebrating Sacramento Soccer Day, July 18, 2023. The color of “Old Glory Red” links back to the the state flag of California, tying the club to the state’s rich history. Ten years later, that same color is the foundation for one of the team’s most popular nicknames: “The Boys in Old Glory Red.”
“Over 10 years, every single Republic FC player, academy member, fan and friend of the club has donned Old Glory Red,” Republic FC Vice President of Marketing Ben Mayberry said in a statement. “This is the common thread that has united us since 2014, on and off the pitch, and has seamlessly become a part of the fabric of Sacramento. We only hope to deepen this connection over the next 10 years.”

The new kit features a thin and threaded texture to reflect on how Old Glory has been built into the fabric of the Sacramento community. It also features kit sponsors, UC Davis Health, in bold white text in the middle, and the Hummel sponsor in the top-right corner.
Resilient Red also makes a return, first appearing on the club’s 2023 alternate kit. The jersey also has accents on the collar and sleeves to symbolize the team’s bright future ahead.
Also making a return is the 988 patch on the sleeve, extending “the club’s commitment to spreading awareness for the National Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline in partnership with Western Health Advantage and WellSpace Health.”
Sacramento Republic FC will wear the Old Glory Kit for one night only to celebrate the club’s return to Hughes Stadium on Aug. 26. The match will also serve as a homecoming, with former Republic FC players from various seasons returning to the pitch for a pre-game presentation.
