Sean Cunningham, sports reporter and producer for FOX40, joined “The Drive Guys” Wednesday ahead to talk about the impact Malik Monk had against the Bucks, the growth of Keon Ellis and more.

In Tuesday’s 129-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sixth Man of the Year contender finished the game with 25 points (9/19 FG) and passed out five assists over 28 minutes. Sean explained that Monk is “completely happy” coming off the bench and understands his role.

“I kind of sound like a broken record, but I’m the guy that says Malik is the most important player on this team,” Sean told The Drive Guys. “He gives them an identity, he gives that vibe, and as long as he’s not turning the ball over, they feed off of that energy.”

An upcoming free agent, Malik Monk will have a big choice to make this summer.

“How do you not re-sign this guy? Give him whatever the hell he wants. He’s so part of this team’s identity and he would be a very, very difficult piece to replace,” Sean said.

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Trying to explain the team’s Jekyll & Hyde season
  • What stood out about the Kings’ defense against the Milwaukee Bucks
  • The career trajectory of Keon Ellis and his future with the Kings
  • Sacramento is fine and there’s a pathway to a five or six game win-streak before the season ends in April
