Sacramento is currently on a four-game losing streak entering play on Monday

Monday night’s contest between the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons just got a lot more interesting.

According to Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic, Kings head coach Luke Walton’s job “will likely be in peril” if the team’s four-game losing streak continues to grow on Monday night in Detroit and Wednesday night in Minnesota.

After beginning the season with a 5-4 record, Sacramento has fallen flat after dropping four games in-a-row since routing the Charlotte Hornets in convincing fashion on November 5th.

Since the 30-point victory over Charlotte, the Kings have:

  • Lost an ugly game to the 3-7 Indiana Pacers
  • Been outscored 31-12 in the third quarter against Phoenix
  • Gotten blown out by the 3-7 San Antonio Spurs
  • Watched an 18-point lead disappear against the 4-6 Oklahoma City Thunder

The team has looked lost over the past 10 days and the front office has taken note, with Charania and Amick’s story also stating that Walton “won’t be given the same leeway to turn things around as he was last season.”

While there are 69 games remaining in the regular season, Walton and the Kings will need to turn things around beginning Monday if they want to avoid major personnel changes.
