The 49ers are adding more defensive depth, striking a trade with the Texans.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Houston will send Maliek Collins to San Francisco in exchange for a seventh-round pick. Schefter did not clarify if the pick is for this upcoming NFL Draft or a future draft.
Collins was selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. After four years in Dallas, Collins spent one year with the Last Vegas Raiders before signing with the Texans in 2021, where he started 46 games for Houston.
In eight NFL seasons, the 28-year-old DT has recorded one interception, four passes defended, one forced fumble, six fumble recoveries, 25.5 sacks, and 206 tackles.
